THE RIBBONER is a very short film inspired by my feelings towards the UK folk scene.

After we made Stones, it became clear there was an invisible fault line in the UK folk scene - between those who saw the revival as an opportunity to reassess and update, and those who were happy to simply revive and celebrate a deeply problematic space.

I made THE RIBBONER as a way of venting my frustrations with the way critical voices were starting to be used as totems for the more regressive aspects of the scene. Using them to buy ‘cool’, whilst silencing the debate.
